May 13 | Web-based Training
The Business Case Model is a powerful Excel-based tool, developed by the Institute, to help clarify the benefits and potential costs of integrating child health information systems. It can help public health professionals, researchers, and policy makers to build a clear business case for integrating child health information systems (CHIS). The Institute will present training on Version 2.0 of the Model and participatnts will be given access to the Model.

AMIA's Spring Congress will center on four major types of initiatives where a more concerted set of activities by AMIA members can make a significant difference. These initiatives include the development of effective electronic health records and the evaluation of their impact on care delivery, the incremental definition of personal health records and the new challenges associated with emerging approaches to PHR development and use; the technologies, policies, research, and social structures required to create a stronger public health informatics infrastructure; the opportunities and challenges associated with accelerating the field of clinical research informatics.
Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE)

The conference theme this year is Public Health Epidemiology: Adapting to a Changing World. The title reflects the pervasive breadth, intensity, and rapidity of changes in the world that affect the work of epidemiologists within public health. Changes such as lightning-speed information exchange capability, intentional threats from bioterrorism, global warming, and increasing healthcare delivery in the outpatient setting, influence the way public health must respond. The CSTE conference will include presentations by leaders in public health, a poster session, roundtable discussions, and a forum for state delegations to meet as a group.

Step Forward Together: The 2008 Public Health Partners Conference is the theme for this year's conference. The event will be in partnership with the Wisconsin Association of Local Health Departments and Boards (WALHDAB) and the Wisconsin Public Health Association (WPHA) .
