The Institute will offer two levels of BCM training on each date. The training is described below.

LEVEL 1 Business Case Model (BCM) Training is a one-hour web-based seminar to provide an overview of the features and uses of the Business Case Model.

Elements of Level 1 BCM Training include the following:

  • An overview of the principles behind business case models and background information related to this particular Model
  • A demonstration on how to set up a state-specific scenario for child health information system integration
  • A demonstration on how to run calculations to determine costs and benefits of the scenario set up and how to produce tables and graphs depicting the results
  • Suggestions for ways in which the BCM can be used to gain support for integrating child health information systems.

LEVEL 2 Business Case Model (BCM) Training is a two-hour web-based seminar intended for public health practitioners interested in receiving more in-depth information. Level 2 training will focus on navigating through various components of the Model and working with the data. Participants must take Level 1 training before participating in Level 2 Training. Level 2 BCM Training will be presented on the same day as Level 1 BCM Training.

Elements of Level 2 BCM Training include the following:

  • Instruction and demonstration on the location and sources of data pre-loaded in the Model.
  • A demonstration on how to make changes in preloaded data and places where there are currently “educated guesses” or place-holders
  • An explanation/interpretation of tables and charts produced when calculations are run on a scenario

Following the training, participants will be provided access to version 2.0 of the Business Case Model. You can register for the training here. For information about the Institute's Business Case Model.
