State and local public health departments are faced with the increased staff costs, increased demand for efficient and effective information systems, and the need for cross-cutting IT infrastructure. The Public Health Informatics Institute recognizes the value of integrating performance standards into public health processes.
Our staff is experienced in measuring the variables that can affect program performance. We understand that public health departments are called upon to establish a strong business case for enterprise-level systems, develop comprehensive requirements specifications, and prepare evaluation plans that quantify and demonstrate the effect of a new system on program performance. The Institute supports public health organizations in each of these areas. We strive toward a shared goal of building informatics skills and capacities within public health organizations.
